About Me
Does anyone else feel like writing about themselves is the hardest assignment of all? Whether it’s for a résumé, career goals, a blog post, or even a social media bio, I find it tricky to distill an entire life into a few paragraphs—but here goes nothing!
Hi, I’m Lynsey, the voice behind Pen & Prejudice. I grew up in a lively Cajun family, where I inherited a deep love of dance and an appreciation for life’s little dramas (both on and off the dance floor). Along the way, I also discovered a passion for writing, reading, and karaoke—sung with enthusiasm, if not perfect pitch.
My love for literature—and Jane Austen in particular—shaped the name of this blog. Much like Austen’s heroines, I’ve found myself navigating society’s expectations, personal trials, and the pursuit of a life that is wholly my own. With pen in hand (or keyboard at the ready), I chronicle my own chapters of transformation, resilience, and humor.
I live a quieter life now with my three grown children, whom I love fiercely. Watching them step into their own paths has been one of the most rewarding parts of my story. Ten years ago, I never would have guessed that exercise would become my sanctuary, but moving my body—whether at the gym or on a long walk—has become one of my most reliable forms of stress relief. I’m also endlessly curious, always trying new things and unearthing hidden talents.
In late 2023, my world turned upside down. It’s been a whirlwind of loss, change, and unexpected opportunities. Some of the dreams I set for myself at 22 are finally within reach—starting with pursuing my MBA.
Through it all, I’ve learned that success and failure are rarely what we imagine, and that humor can be just as essential as grit. Here, I’ll share what worked, what didn’t, and the occasional misstep that’s too funny to keep to myself. I’ll keep pushing limits, surprising myself, and yes—writing that book.
It’s lovely to “meet” you. I hope you’ll stay awhile.
